
Associate Engineer - Document Control

The Associate Engineer – DataDoc Mgmt will be part of the VP TAO organization.
The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.
What's the role?
Provide support to Shell OUs in Managing the Asset data, document & digital methodologies/solutions to execute their transformation into value added business needs for today and future to operate safely, efficiently and effectively.
- Maintenance, assurance, technical support, and standardization of Shell’s Upstream, IG and Downstream assets technical data.
- Document Management of an asset’s technical drawings, vendor/OEM correspondences, procedures, and other engineering drawings.
- Ability to understand technical drawing related to maintenance such as P&IDs, PEFS, PFD, SLD.
- Background in Oil and Gas maintenance and operations is an advantage.
The role is expected to perform document management of technical data, procedures, and engineering drawings through functional mailbox management, metadata management, and high level quality checks.
Principal Accountabilities
- Work in Bentley document management tools like ALIM, Project wise for Maintenance, assurance, technical support and standardization of technical data and documents of the manufacturing sites, chemical plants, supply chain and distribution locations. Also, can work in CMMS (SAP) and EDMS tools such as either AIM-EDMS / ASSAI / ACCONEX / UDOCs (Doc Management tool). With support roles on site engagement & technical & tools forums.
- Analyze data and business processes which includes data cleansing, data mining and profiling, benchmarking, reporting projects for site related equipment and maintenance related activities.
- Monitors functional mailbox for Document Turnovers on daily basis and prioritizes the completion of these document turnovers based on agreed criteria and in line with asset standards.
- Understands data related maintenance reports, equipment drawings, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, operation and maintenance manuals of OEMs for Upstream and Midstream operations. Understanding the functions of the various equipment’s /instruments and knowledge of reading/ interpreting the engineering drawings (P&IDs, PEFS, PFDs) is an advantage.
- Support Project and plant change teams in developing PDDP's (project Doc Data Plan) and/or DDSF (Doc Data Scope Form)
- Ensure project and plant changes deliver according DDSF and report deviations to PM / PCE.
- Coordinate As built doc/data workflow between Shell PM and EPC including doc/tag reservations, specifying doc/data requirements.
- Act as gate keeper for Project managers and PCE's for timely processing of information and pro-actively intervene in case of non-delivery
- Opens each drawing or document and performs quality check based on the Asset’s Document Management standards - returns document turnovers to the originator that don’t meet baseline quality standards. Sends required notifications and closes document turnover per instruction when complete.
- Loads documents to EDMS, adds metadata and links to FLOC per instruction.
- Looks at opportunities to streamline processes in the future.
- Support Data/document improvement projects which may include data cleanse, data mining, benchmarking, reporting projects and track evidence as per Site Reference Documents
- Ensures appropriate Engineering discipline controls for projects and plant changes throughout the Opportunity Realization

What do we need from you:
- University/Technical/Professional/ Engineering in Mechanical / Instrumentation/ Electrical/ Industrial/Chemical Engineering.
- Experience handling technical documentation in the Oil and Gas or related industry.
- Experience in Engineering Data Warehouse (EDW) and document manage systems (EDNS) such as Bentley EB ALIM, Project wise, ASSAI, AVEVA, SPF, and Primavera is a big advantage.
- Experience in applying document management standards (such as Document Numbering schemes), metadata management, and working in an established document management workflow.
- Proven experience in writing and manipulating databases (like SQL, Oracle).
- Knowledge of cross-discipline engineering data (requirements and use) including business data model of engineering, spare parts processes, Maintenance Management System build processes.
- Knowledge of SharePoint and document management systems.
- Preferably knowledgeable in Engineering IM Scope of Work and Information Specification in a major contract, CFIHOS/DEP, Engineering Information Specification (EIS) and the related document.
- Working in a highly virtualized environment in a geographically diverse and multicultural team.
- Good written and oral communications.
Technical Documentation Includes:
- Project Drawings – IFR/IFC’s
- Level Sketches, P&IDs, PEFs, etc.
- Vendor/OEM Manuals
- Equipment Diagrams
