You will be part of the Shell Energy Trading Business Integration and Assurance (BIA) organization, a team of professionals who are passionate about enhancing our ability to trade with counterparties whilst maintaining our compliance and ethical standards.

What's the role?
As the KYC Team Lead, you will lead a team of Counterparty Onboarding Focals (COFs) in the day-to-day management of risk review and counterparty outreach.

More specifically, the role will include: 

  • Managing a team of COFs to ensure the smooth and effective onboarding of counterparties.

  • Acting as the subject matter expert in the first line of defense (LOD1) for Financial Crime Risk.

  • Engaging and managing stakeholders, such as compliance, in the second line of defense (LOD2), and the lines of business.

  • Day-to-day managing of your team to complete onboarding and counterparty outreach within agreed timeframes and quality standards.

  • Engaging stakeholders for feedback to continually improve the management and delivery of counterparty KYC.

  • Supporting and driving continuous improvement and innovation initiatives as part of the overall Counterparty Lifecycle Management (CLCM) programme.

  • Implementing T&S KYC standards and associated policies and processes for onboarding through subordinate procedures.

  • Escalating concerns and providing an independent view and voice.

  • Facilitating and leading presentations, and communicating clearly, concisely, and effectively across a range of stakeholders/perspectives.

  • Ensuring clear and frequent reporting of relevant management information to the leadership team.

  • Working to tight deadlines, often under pressure.

  • Acting as a subject matter expert assisting Counterparty Onboarding Focals in daily operational activities.

  • Being an active and effective member of the Financial Crime team.

This role will be supporting US time zone. Working Hours: 9pm - 6am Manila Time, following local PH Holidays with agreed skeletal support system.

What we need from you
You will have experience of Counterparty KYC Due Diligence and Outreach and a firm understanding of how activities may be integrated to make the inquiry process as efficient as possible for all stakeholders and customers.

You will use your expertise to identify and eliminate process inefficiencies, as well as translate large quantities of data into meaningful information for internal customers, whilst operating in a fast-paced environment.

You will be able to engage effectively across all levels of the T&S organization and other areas of the business as required. Additionally, you will be able to inspire the people in your team to work towards practical goals that have a real impact on our counterparties’ experience of doing business with Shell.


Additional requirements include: 

  • 5 years of experience in managing a team

  • Experience working in Counterparty Lifecycle Management/Financial Crime /KYC processes

  • Extensive knowledge of global financial crime regulation and legal requirements

  • Experience in Tier 1 Financial Institutions (Wholesale, Commercial/Corporate, Investment Banking) and/or large Commodities or Trading Houses (Oil, Energy) would be highly valuable

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and drive performance and encourage positive team dynamics

  • Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization, both internally and externally, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Effective communication skills, robust analytical skills, especially the ability to identify cause-effect relationships, patterns, implications of data, and integrate pieces into a meaningful conclusion

  • Effective stakeholder engagement skills to manage relationships across different businesses and functions

  • Resilient mindset at work and the ability to meet tight deadlines often under pressure

  • Self-starter who can work independently demonstrating personal drive and taking own initiative.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team.
