Wells Supervisor (WE)
Purpose
To manage and supervise all operations executed by the drilling contractor crews and specialist service contractors during night shift. To ensure that operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner in full compliance with the law, with company policies, standards and procedures.
To strive for continuous improvement in HSE performance and operational efficiency while keeping risks within ALARP. Safety shall never be compromised.
Accountabilities
To ensure that all activities are performed in full compliance with the law, Company policies, standards and procedures. To maintain Well Control at all times. To ensure that safety is not compromised.
b) Under the authority of the day Drilling Supervisor, supervise critical operations such as cementations, well control operations and tripping and drilling through difficult or unknown formations.
c) Forecast and schedule equipment, materials and services to optimize utilization of resources and to ensure that all relevant operations are performed in the most effective manner.
d) To ensure that all relevant well data is accurately recorded and communicated in a timely fashion, including, but not limited to: future activities, cost tracking, invoices tracking and storage, diesel tracking and requests.
e) To improve HSE performance on the rig through meetings, inspections, audits and Hearts and Minds engagements.
f) To foster a culture of Teamwork, Respect, Compliance and Intervention.
g) Archive in Teams all technical documents that will be used for reference to compare data from well to well, including: BHAs, BOP tests, directional surveys, rollover sheets, mud reports, steering sheets.
h) Even when he performs under the authority of the day drilling supervisor, the night drilling supervisor will remain accountable and responsible for the decisions he made while accepting people or equipment into location or the practices related to well control or stuck pipe while on the assigned shift.
I) Supervise and promote all ways of working applicable to Shell Argentina operations, including: promotion and supervision of the correct use of 4 pillars, environmental practices, HERO recognitions, supervise pre tour safety inductions are performed on a daily basis and control all operations are executed under the scope of WIMMS.
The position reports directly to the drilling team lead and to the field supervisor while performing under the supervision of the day Drilling Supervisor on the rig. His/her peers are the other Night Drilling Supervisors on the other rigs. Each rig normally has one Drilling supervisor, one Night Drilling Supervisor, working a cycle of 14 days on/off. The night drilling supervisor does not have any staff reporting to him/her.
Special challenges
- Drilling high pressure wells to a horizontal length above 3500m.
- Execute drilling activities looking for outstanding performance in HSE and quality.
-Get involved with cost tracking quality check, cost tracking in open wells.
- Build relationships with people from different cultural background and level of development.
- Continue developing his technical career while supervising the mentioned rig activities by accomplishing with the Round 1 and Round 2 in a timely manner.
- Flexibility to embrace contingencies, troubleshooting and special operations.
- Willingness to work night shifts.
Required experience qualification
-Degree level qualifications with a minimum of 5 years experience in drilling operations. -Shell Round 1/2 or trade test under a deviation while obtaining the Round 1 / 2 certification required for Shell staff.
-An IWCF or IADC certificate at supervisor level is a minimum requirement.
-Fluent in Spanish language. English knowledge strongly recommended.
