Maintenance Reliability Turn Around (MRTA) is about understanding and maintaining our equipment as effectively and efficiently as possible, making sure it performs as intended. The Maintenance discipline covers the development of Maintenance strategies and the planning, coordination, and execution of Maintenance activities. Maintenance ensures safe, defect free and efficient operations through the regular upkeep of equipment and tools in the most cost efficient and timely manner.
What’s the role?
As an Instrument/Quality Measuring Instrument (QMI) Field Execution Engineer/Assistant Engineer, you will be based in Shell Pulau Bukom under Maintenance Department with key accountabilities as the following:
- Provides day-to-day hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting including contractor/ specialist management for all Instrument/QMI maintenance related matters.
- Responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance works and ensuring plant equipment availability including instrumentation, control valves, analysers and the control system.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation and control system malfunctions, ensuring timely resolution to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control equipment by calibrating instruments, replacing components, and conducting routine checks.
- Develop and implement maintenance plans and procedures to ensure system integrity and performance.
- Analyse and interpret control system data to identify potential issues and optimize system performance.
- Support the development and implementation of upgrades and modifications to the instrument and control systems.
- Compliance to HSSE standards and requirements to make Shell Pulau Bukom a safe place to work, and accountable for all assigned Critical activities.
- Perform Authorized Applicant and/or Authorized Engineer as per Permit to Work (e-PTW) requirement.
- Participate in Asset Management System (AMS) & Maintenance Execution (ME) assessment and determine Instrument/QMI equipment maintenance task and schedule.
- Participate Field Acceptance Test/ Site Acceptance Test (FAT/SAT) and Functional testing to ensure equipment are meeting the design intent when required.
- Perform Instrument/QMI equipment condition monitoring & liaise with relevant subject matter experts (SME)/ specialist/ OEM to address any arising issues, problems & concerns.
- Prepares job specifications and costing for works involved and apply work clearance / permit for work execution.
- Participate and execute for Turnaround (TA)/ Pit-stop (PS) events in related Process Units (PUs).
- Maintains work requests and records on maintenance works using computerized maintenance management systems, GSAP-PM.
- Maintain accurate documentation for instrument and control systems, server systems, and maintenance activities. to ensure all equipment technical records and drawings are updated to reflect the latest changes.
- Contribute to the development of the annual operating budget of the section to ensure achievement operational targets of section.
- Attend Standby Duty callout to an Emergency work upon request
What we need from you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Assistant Engineer position: Minimum NITEC Level 2 certification in Instrumentation or Electronics or Electrical
- Engineer position: Minimum Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation or Electronics or Electrical
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in Instrument construction/ Maintenance in oil & gas, chemical/ petrochemical or related industries.
- Knowledge in basic control system and/or functional logic is an advantage.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot instrument and control system malfunctions.
- Experience with calibration of industrial instrumentation.
- Understanding of control system principles (PLC, DCS) and communication protocols (OPC, Fieldbus, Modbus, HART, Vnet).
- Able to understand PID and have knowledge of instrumentation and control element
- Basic understanding of server system administration, including troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
- SAP (GSAP) knowledge in Maintenance Module.
- Experience in field work interfacing and stakeholder’s engagement.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration and managing contractors and vendors.
- Able to work in Team environment as well as standalone when need arises.
