What is the role?

Electrical technicians are to provide hands-on maintenance, safe, cost-effective, and efficient day-to-day maintenance services on electrical equipment and components.

Job responsibilities:

  • Compliance to HSSE standards and requirements to make Jurong Island (JI) a safe place to work, and accountable for all assigned Critical activities assigned for the job position.

  • Perform Authorized Applicant and/or Authorized Engineer as per JI Permit to Work (e-PTW) requirement.

  • Provides day-to-day hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting including contractor/specialist management for all Electrical maintenance related matters, delivered with high safety standards, comply to authorities such as EMA ACT, Electricity ACT, local industrial and company HSE standards to ensure the equipment validity and availability.

  • Participate in FAT/SAT and Functional testing to ensure all electrical equipment met the design intent when required.

  • Responsible for carrying out preventive as well as corrective maintenance works and ensuring plant equipment availability.

  • Participate in AMS ME assessment and determine Electrical equipment maintenance task and schedule

  • Prepares job specifications and costing for works involved and apply work clearance / permit for work execution.

  • Shall be conversant with HSE and Permit to work requirements in petroleum and petrochemical industry.

  • Participate and execute for Turnaround/ pitstop events in related Process Units (PUs).

  • Perform electrical equipment condition monitoring whenever required and liaise with relevant subject matter experts/specialist/OEM to address any arising issues, problems & concerns.\

  • Provide good documentation to ensure all equipment technical records and drawings are updated to reflect the latest changes.

  • Maintains work requests and records on maintenance works using computerized maintenance management systems, GSAP-PM.

  • Attend callout to the Emergency work upon request.

  • Carry out electrical QC checks including insulation resistance test, continuity test, loop check, motor winding resistance test.

  • Report timely to EIQ Lead engineer on the progress of work, issues encountered.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following experience and qualifications:

  • Diploma/ITE or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years relevant experience in Electrical construction/ installation. Those with related work experience in oil & gas, chemical & petrochemical industry will be a plus.

  • Capable to perform electrical safeguarding checks and capable to assist instrument

  • Experience in Plant Turnaround detail planning, preparation, and field execution, as well as Field work interaction and stakeholder’s management 

  • Experience with Brown field constructions include administration, HSSE and detail field technical work methods will be a plus

  • Knowledge of Electrical equipment: switch houses, sub-station, motors, and pumps.

  • Conversant with HSE and Permit to work requirements in petroleum and petrochemical industry is a plus

This position is part of the in-scope SECP Business and while the employing entity may initially be SGSC, a successful candidate’s employment contract will subsequently be transferred to Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte. Ltd. (“ACE”) to facilitate the Transaction. From completion of the Transaction, ACE will cease to be a Shell group company and will be owned by CAPGC.

Specific details relating to the impact on relevant employees supporting the SECP Business and timeline relating to the change of employing entities, will be shared with the successful candidate.
