
Mechanical Rotating Maintenance Engineer
What's the role?
Your key responsibilities include the following:
1. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform duties as an Authorized Applicant/Engineer per SJI e-Permit to Work (e-PTW) requirements.
2. Maintenance Planning and Execution:
- Support the planning and costing of maintenance activities for mechanical rotating equipment.
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget in line with the business plan.
- Execute maintenance activities (not limited to rotating equipment) according to the provided plan and schedule, with routine progress update to Maintenance Team Lead daily.
- Lead ad-hoc unit shutdowns and pitstop maintenance, ensuring safe and timely execution without compromising quality.
3. Equipment Reliability:
- Maintain high equipment reliability to support plant technical availability.
- Monitor preventive and corrective maintenance for HEMP equipment to ensure compliance and prevent overdue tasks.
- Develop and track mitigation plans to address corrective maintenance backlogs.
4. Continuous Improvement:
- Develop and execute gap closure plans as part of AMS (MEC & ME).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure AMS-ME work processes are executed effectively and deliver desired results.
- Support continuous improvement in maintenance strategies, including preventive maintenance, cost management, spare parts management, and scheduled work.
5. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
- Perform first-line troubleshooting for equipment failures, including root cause analysis.
- Possess strong rotating equipment maintenance knowledge and field experience.
- Monitor equipment conditions and involve specialists as needed to address issues.
- Identify and address bad actors, participating in major equipment and system troubleshooting to provide solutions.
6. Mentorship and Team Collaboration:
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians to enhance their maintenance execution capabilities.
- Collaborate within the maintenance team to achieve schedule attainment and site operational availability targets.
7. Cost Leadership:
- Drive business improvement through the application of MTS (wave tactics).
8. Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide standby duty coverage and backup to the Maintenance Team Lead.
- Perform any other related duties as required.
What we need from you:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance engineering, preferably in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
Strong knowledge of HSE standards and practices.
Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.

The Transaction will transfer all of Shell’s interest in the SECP Business to CAPGC. Subject to regulatory approval, the Transaction is expected to complete by the end of 2024. This position is part of the in-scope SECP Business and while the employing entity may initially be SGSC, a successful candidate’s employment contract will subsequently be transferred to Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte. Ltd. (“ACE”) to facilitate the Transaction. From completion of the Transaction, ACE will cease to be a Shell group company and will be owned by CAPGC.
Specific details relating to the impact on relevant employees supporting the SECP Business and timeline relating to the change of employing entities, will be shared with the successful candidate.
