Maintenance Reliability Turn Around is about understanding and maintaining our equipment as effectively and efficiently as possible, making sure it performs as intended. The Turnaround discipline covers the development of Turnaround strategies and the planning, coordinating and execution of Turnaround events (including the financial and people aspects and scheduling).

What’s the role?

As the Turnaround Block Lead, your accountabilities will include:

  • Responsible for development of detailed planning and scheduling deliverables for a single/multiple Turnaround (TA) block work scope.
  • Field verification of work described in approved work scope submission and develops detailed Primavera work scope activities, with craft type and estimated hours, coding requirements, etc.
  • Works with other planners to ensure TA Event scope is fully integrated into a single block plan within Primavera.
  • Develops, plan and integrates addendum/discovery works into Primavera schedule.
  • Assess job to understand the optimum plan to achieve Event premises including cost, safety, quality, and schedule performances.
  • Create bill of material for assigned work, requisition material and ensure all materials are delivered before feed-out of unit.
  • Ensure environmental plans (waste disposal, vacuum trucks, hazardous material handling, etc.) are developed.
  • Assemble work packages with detailed information for planning and execution. Identification, review, and escalation of high-risk activities.
  • Develop in-depth familiarity with Shell Asset Management System TA Work Processes, and Recommended Practices and assist Event Manager in driving assigned associated deliverables.
  • Completes estimate of Direct Field Labour (DFL) hours, overheads, materials, and equipment for assigned Event.
  • Optimize efficient execution schedule logic, resource levelling strategy, and maximize productivity for assigned TA Event.
  • Ensure schedule update during pre/execution/post phases of assigned TA Event.
  • Communicate key issues and risks to the TA Event Manager.
  • Upkeep and manage TA Event files and records across all TA phases, including post Event system/record updating.
  • Provides constructive critics of TA Event activities after completion; contribute towards Lesson Learnt/After Action Reviews lookback processes.
  • Is mindful of and continue to look for opportunities to optimize TA scope, planning and execution with low-cost/max-value mindset.
  • Lead the planning of all activities for a single/multiple TA/Project Event work scope.
  • Coordinate cross-disciplines – Operations/Engineering/Technology/HSSE/Procurement/ Finance – integration & alignment discussion. 
  • Intimately familiar with all TA work processes requirements.
  • Lead and drive field work for assigned Block, responsible for productivity & daily schedule progress during execution phase. 
  • Balancing and delivering results in all 4 key performance areas: HSSE, Quality, Schedule and Cost.
  • Delivering results against industry benchmarks in TA duration and Cost.
  • Maintain strong cross functional/discipline relationship during times of high energy & stress.
  • Working with site SME to develop skill sets for equipment unique to the individual site. 
  • Function as Focal point in TA plan-the-plan tracking. Function as a Block Leader for high complexity event, or function as Night Shift Lead during TA execution, or lead a Low complexity TA. Perform deputy roles for Leads during the absence of the Leads or when assigned, as part of development and business expectations.
  • Drive schedule reviews for critical operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate risk assessments and mitigation implementation for high-risk activities. Communicates key issues and risks to the TA Event Manager.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) process for TA activities, including necessary temporary facilities, as required.
  • Organize and facilitate TA related workshops such as readiness reviews, scope challenge, cost/ financial reviews, team alignment, lookbacks etc.
  • Organise review of TA related plans such as HSSE, Flawless Quality, Logistics, Pre-TA works etc.
  • Work with Contractor to develop Workpacks for execution. Assigned as Contract Holders for Medium and Low risk contract specific to the Production Unit.

What we need from you

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Turnaround or Routine Maintenance Mechanical Planner
  • In-depth or good knowledge in: HSSE, quality, schedule and cost management
  • Advantage with experience in the use of GSAP and Primavera
