What’s the Role

A Territory Manager (TM) role is one of the most exciting and fulfilling roles in Shell Mobility. You will be part of the Mobility Sales and Operations team that manages a group of Retailers in a Territory within a defined geographic location. On average the Territory will consist of 15-25 service stations.

We are looking for a customer centric, passionate, and results driven individual who will embody Shell’s values and principles on a daily basis.

As a Territory Manager, you will be responsible for managing the relationship between Shell Canada and the Retail Business Partners at the site/ cluster level. You will work to enable the delivery of Sales, Profitability and Operational Excellence Key Performance Indicators within the Territory by coaching and counseling Retail Business Partners.  We will be looking to you to ensure fuel, convenience retail and car wash strategies and tactics are delivered flawlessly, ethically and safely each day. Ultimately your role is accountable for planning and delivering the financial delivery for the territory, which includes financial oversight for all Shell owned Convenience Retail (CR) stock, car wash performance, and fuel margin, volume and pricing at your sites within the territory.

This exciting position is instrumental to high potential Talent Development in the Mobility Organization. Within this role, you will develop stakeholder management and business development competencies.

Accountabilities:

  • Embody and support the organization’s journey towards the Goal Zero Ambition (No Harm. No Leaks and no food safety incidents across all our operations).

  • Review and manage site level performance, identify gaps, and implement action plans to deliver results.

  • Spend a substantial amount of time in the field for Retailer collaboration and coaching on execution of processes and programs.

  • Ensure that Retailers use the tools & processes available to help grow the business and deliver an exceptional customer journey.

  • Ensure proper execution of the Shell Customer Value Proposition (Marketing, HSSE, Loyalty and Convenience Retail) at each site including consistent delivery of the Shell Customer Commitment.

  • Lead Retailer Recruitment and Selection efforts to support the development of a robust Retailer pipeline.

  • Foster a Safety-First Culture at site operations by coaching and counseling Retailer to follow proper HSSE protocols in day-to-day operations.

  • Maximize profitability by increasing year on year sales of all categories and growing higher margin Convenience Retail categories, leveraging Convenience Retail Inventory Ownership, and minimizing controllable costs and via great execution of  4 P (Product, Price, Placement, Promotion and excellent customer service at all locations. 

Please note: This role is customer facing and as such most of the time is spent visiting locations. High mobility and a valid non restricted class 5 driver’s license are a must.

This position will be located in the province of Ontario in Central GTA (Greater Toronto Area). Even if the candidate is in GTA, a relocation might be required to ensure proximity to the territory.

The position also requires flexibility and availability for emergency outside of normal working hours. We are looking for someone who will be able to multitask and function in a fast paced environment.

Skills & Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in a similar role.

  • Evidence of strong leadership attributes (Authenticity, Collaboration, Performance, Growth) and adherence to core values (Honesty, Integrity, Respect for People)

  • High mobility and existing driver's license (Class 5 Non restricted)

  • Self-starter and results oriented. Strong past performance and track record for delivery and commercial acumen.

  • Ability to approach activities with a learner mindset and can do atititude 

  • Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and multiple parallel activities

  • Convenience retail and customer care experience is an important asset (Strong understanding of convenience retail operational processes with a good level of 4p execution)
