
Ops Engineer – Commissioning & Start-Up
What’s the role
This position will participate in the execution of all Operations Readiness and Commissioning & Start-Up activities within the NAM projects, turnarounds and modifications portfolio.
What you’ll be doing
As the Operations Engineer CSU (Commissioning & Start- Up), your accountabilities include:
- Be accountable for the assigned Operations Readiness and Commissioning & Start-Up deliverables in accordance with Project management Framework and the CSU Discipline delivery plan
- Provide support in the AOR space for the production unit in the development and coaching of operate phase deliverables and personnel
- Covers OR/CSU aspects for multifaceted scope, incl. PM/CM, EOM, modifications and projects, acting in a “project lead” role during the CSU phase
- Execution of work scopes in compliance with the global Operations Readiness process (Project Standard 5) with specific focus on 3 pillar model (Front end Operations, CSU & Handover and Asset Owner Readiness) including management of repeated failures
- Overall compliance with the operational and commissioning requirements within the DCAF process
- Manage operational assurance reviews within assigned work scopes to ensure the proposed scope meets Operations expectations (including availability) and that the operational risks are ALARP
- Accountable for the assigned commissioning activities within turnaround campaigns
Specific commissioning activities and skills expected throughout the lifecycle of this role include:
- Preparation of Commissioning Procedures and Handover Documentation
- Onshore/ Offshore Commissioning (individually and leading integrated team with construction & pre commissioning contractor). Focus is mostly onshore
- Onshore/ Offshore Fault finding / rectification. Focus is mostly onshore
- Onshore commissioning support to operations
- Support for 3rd party assurance close out / findings / actions
- Support Ready for Start Up activities (trackers / audits etc.)
- Managing vendors for commissioning activities
- Provide commissioning spares support
- Attending FATs/ IFATs
Note: Your scope as Operations Engineer CSU is primarily Onshore North (which are the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe). Occasionally support will be given in other parts of the country.
What you bring
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or hydrocarbon field
- Strong experience in Turnaround and projects/modifications with experience as a CSU engineer accountable for delivering various scope of modifications and projects
- Broad experience in an operational environment, preferably with some of it in an offshore environment
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, broad understanding of key disciplines (mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, rotating)
- Ability to collaborate effectively within the Asset with Operations and Discipline Engineering
- Strong cost drive and cost conscious ‘spend it like your own’ mindset
- Good understanding of Integrated activity planning and shutdown planning are helpful
- Ability to motivate and influence others and work through others to deliver the desired results
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work independently, while also effectively integrating into a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team
- Ability to speak, read and write in Dutch language is highly preferred
