What’s the role

Shell is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager of Charging for its Shell Recharge North America business.

The Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) drives the ongoing development of our charging product portfolio. The North America Shell Recharge business works closely with internal and external product and engineering teams to aggregate a market-specific solution-set of hardware, firmware, mobile app, connectivity, and payment solutions. The TPMs in the North America eMobility business unit are responsible for ensuring the market-specific product roadmap is well-defined, aligned across global product teams, and delivered in a timely manner. They are also responsible for ensuring the products are appropriately integrated into go-to-market development, engineering, and construction workstreams. This is a unique role that requires TPM to be fluent in product workstreams, business development workstreams, and engineering and construction workstreams. 

Accountabilities:

  • Manage local charging product strategy and delivery

    • Collaborate closely with Shell Recharge teams to define compelling charging hardware and firmware solutions for the business’ charging needs. Products in scope include charging hardware, charging firmware, payment hardware, and connectivity solutions. The TPM will leverage Shell’s Global product and engineering teams and external charging OEMs to ensure the North American market’s solutions are delivering an ever-improving premium, efficient, compliant, and profitable customer experience

  • Act as a Subject matter expert on charging hardware in support of commercial and operational teams

    • Ensure Shell Market Development teams have the technical information required for their development workstreams.

    • Ensure the Shell Service Operations teams have appropriate documentation as required for the operation and maintenance of the network

  • Act as a Technical expert on site design in support of engineering and construction teams

    •  Responsible for extending their technical excellence from the lab to the field, maintaining site design engineering templates for our third-party engineering firms to consult. They will ensure the Shell Deployment team has regularly updated safe, efficient, and operational project design standards. Civil or electrical engineering and/or site design experience is highly preferred

We are a small team and wear many hats, and this role exemplifies that – we are looking for someone who can marry hardware, business development, civil and electrical design, and operational workstreams into a unified North American vision of product development and operational execution.

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or any other related field is a plus

  • At least 7 years of experience

  • Demonstrated capability in hardware, electrical design, or engineering design – preferably for EV charging products 

  • Demonstrated expertise in site design engineering work products – permit sets, construction drawings, as-builts 

  • Demonstrated capability in partnering with manufacturing vendors beyond the initial purchase, ensuring productive ongoing engineering support relationships 

  • Excellent product management skills to ensure needs definition and product feedback loops from stakeholders are placed seamlessly into the product development lifecycle 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Maintenance (EPCM) workstreams and vendors 

  • Experience with Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) manufacturers 

  • Experience managing a Bill-of-Materials portfolio in partnership with Supply Chain teams 

  • Experience with driving complex product portfolios to deliver the optimal combination of specific local requirements

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $146,000.00 - $218,000.00 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.     

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
