One of the newly created opportunities is for Senior Polyethylene Technologist – HDPE (also known as Senior Polyethylene Technologist – Slurry Phase internally) which will provide you with an opportunity to contribute to operational excellence at a brand new, world-scale Polyethylene plant.
This role is part of the Shell Polymers Monaca Technology team and reports to the Polyethylene Technology Manager. One of the main goals of this team member is to enhance the site’s expertise in Slurry Phase technology, aiming for long-term technical advancements in both the asset and product range. Additionally, the role supports with providing secondary technical support for critical issues.

More about our Facility:
In 2022, Shell completed construction of its 386-acre petrochemical complex in Potter Township, Beaver County – approximately 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The feat was nearly a decade in the making, with more than four years of construction activity involving approximately 9,500 workers at peak construction.
The plant, Shell Polymers Monaca, will produce an estimated 1.6 million tons of polyethylene pellets used by Shell’s customers to create products that we see and use every day including – common household goods; consumer and food packaging; as well as industrial and utility products. Three polyethylene units will have a combined annual production of approximately 1.6 million metric tons (3.5 billion pounds).

Accountabilities:
Mentor and develop operation support engineers and operations staff on loop reactors
Support the technical services team by providing technical advice during grade slate development discussions and provide second-level technical support to the Operations Support Engineer
Collaborate with polyethylene technology licensors, spearhead medium and long-term improvement projects for the polyethylene units, and support causal learning from significant polyethylene reliability and safety incidents
Improve profitability, reliability, safety, and product quality, while providing technical support for new product and catalyst development
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or any other related field
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Polymers industry with depth of knowledge on slurry phase and loop reactors
Desire to be part of a team tasked with turning a world class asset into a world class performer
The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $218,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
