One of the newly created opportunities is for a Senior Production Specialist, Polyethylene Gas Phase which will provide you with an opportunity to become one of our knowledge experts in the polyethylene production process.
The Sr. Production Polyethylene Gas (also known as Sr. Production Specialist, Polyethylene Gas Phase internally), will join the Shell Polymers Monaca Production Team. This role ensures that process and hardware performance is safe, compliant, reliable, optimized, and produces quality products in line with the Production Plan. Responsibilities include initiating and supporting facility improvements such as maintenance, turnarounds, projects, influencing the work practices of Production and support personnel, and developing these personnel through direct and indirect technical mentorship of other Production Specialists, Process Engineers, and shift team members. Additionally, this role serves as a key interface with engineering and technology disciplines, ensuring the necessary support for the polyethylene unit.

More about our Facility:
In 2022, Shell completed construction of its 386-acre petrochemical complex in Potter Township, Beaver County – approximately 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The feat was nearly a decade in the making, with more than four years of construction activity involving approximately 9,500 workers at peak construction.
The plant, Shell Polymers Monaca, will produce an estimated 1.6 million tons of polyethylene pellets used by Shell’s customers to create products that we see and use every day including – common household goods; consumer and food packaging; as well as industrial and utility products. Three polyethylene units will have a combined annual production of approximately 1.6 million metric tons (3.5 billion pounds).

Accountabilities:
Align Production Plan with other Production department activities
Define process targets and support the Production shift teams to stay within limits
Participate/lead the daily Production Team Alignment Meetings, provide assurance on threat mitigations
Participate in console review meetings, mentor and train participants for operational excellence, and engage in proactive technical Monitoring performance and alarm reviews
Drive the process for threat elimination and margin opportunity realization
Act as lead in advanced unit troubleshooting
Coordinate complex threat management situations, support maintenance prioritization and execution of complex plans, and train and mentor Production personnel
Support the coordination and execution of turnarounds, prioritize and assist in project development and execution, and support and prioritize management of change (MOC)
Act as Contract Holder for identified contracts, supported by Production Unit Manager (PUM)
Provide technical assurance on unit procedures and back up other Production Specialist roles as required
Expect additional hours during abnormal situations, start-ups, unit upsets, and turnarounds
What we need from you:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering; also open to candidates without an Engineering Degree/Diploma who have a strong depth of operations experience in Polyethylene that have been in lead operator or SME roles within in a plant environment
At least 10 years of experience in operational experience in gas-phase polyethylene production
Demonstrated experience in operational risk management combined with an ability to troubleshoot plant issues
The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $218,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
